“My world was filled with misery, poverty and worry: I could not give my children the care they needed, not to mention food or education. When social workers from SOS Children’s Villages visited my family, I was sceptical, but I agreed to join the programme. That was the turning point of my life.”

I felt like I had a family

Teenage Tharindu was aggressive and unruly in class, until one day his loneliness became too much and he broke down in tears. The emotional support he received from his teachers began to make him feel that he had a family who cared for him after all, and through the help of SOS Children’s Villages the life of him and his family turned around.

My name is Surangi and I am proud to say that I was and am a child of an SOS Children’s Village in Sri Lanka. All children need parents who love them, who can spend enough time talking to them, playing with them or just simply spending quality time.
